Description
This 'Extraction' is a spherical Depth Map of my 'Edge' oil painting. Ive just started experimenting with Depth Maps and thought thought some of my paintings would produce interesting shapes. Any white plots as '0' and appears on the surface of the 3d sphere, black is theoretically in the centre, and everything else is plotted accordingly.
These Spherical Depth Maps of the 'Edge' painting are all of the same model, viewed and lit from various positions. The original painting is...

:-) that's ok - kinda disturbed that my "description" didn't explain it (oops) so my apologies! its a sub function in Photoshop that turns any image into a 3d model. In this case it was my "Edge" oil painting, formed into a sphere! - the biggest difficulty is rotating the 3d model and lighting it :-). I just found the results interesting! - especially as it started off as a painting.
