Fractured rocks at the The Chasms
Artist
Paul Davenport
Medium
Photograph - Digital Photography
Description
Photographed at The Chasms, in the Isle Of Man in the UK. I actually went to photograph a small ancient stone circle there, but was rather distracted by the unusual rock formations. The Chasms, is a walled off area of coastline where the cliff is fracturing right down to the sea and slowly opening up, great for climbers wanting chimney experience as there are towers of rock three to four hundred feet high!.
Shot with a Nikon D7100 with 18-300 Nikkor lens.

A most dramatic photo and it looks so good in the monochrome. Congratulations on your features - seen in Best of British. Would you care, please, to send this one along to Islands Of The United Kingdom? It would be very welcome.

Thank you:-) - walking amongst the fractures - up on the top there, someones head suddenly popped up out of one of the chasms... gave me a start it did - not something you see every day :-)

Gorgeous bw shot. L/F/Tweet
Paul Davenport replied:
Thank you :-). I haven't really found an ideal way of converting to bw, so its usually rather manual... dodging, burning, layer masking and overlays... and inevitably cloning white edges!

I love your b&w images. This one is amazing!
Paul Davenport replied:
Happy you like them :-) ... I do like black and white... I like colour too, but find its very much a distraction a lot of the time. I like the area where this was taken... whilst its not 'stunning', it is rather unusual. Before climbing down, I was scampering about on the top of the rock to the left... and someones head just popped up out of a hole on the ground... gave me quite a start it did :-)
