Drawing - Compressed Charcoal On Paper
Description
A drawing in celebration of Jean-Louis Trintignant in his light and shade. Im rather fascinated by just making marks, so am playing with what and how we interpret them. The one hundred and forty plus films that he has made include some of my personal favourites!
Drawn with compressed charcoal onto 42 x 59.4cm Daler Rowney 200g/m2 Fine Grain HeavyWeight paper.

I agree with Joni...this is a very powerful piece, Paul. The light and shadows are exceptional...excellent work!
Joni Eskridge
Very powerful portrait Paul. I love your light and shadows - in this piece particularly the way you've blended the figure into the light on one side and the shadowy darkness on the other. The eyes grab you instantly, and the likeness is superb.
Paul Davenport replied:
Thank you Joni... I wasn't sure at what age to do him!... I rather like how he looked as the judge in "Three Colours - Red"... maybe il do another one too!
Linda Lees
Marvellous portrait Paul! So expressive. And I love the variety of marks that you make. L/F

Thank you Linda :-)... was getting very close to being overworked... but it serves me right for not using white or erasers!
