What a wonderful work!

Paul Davenport replied:

Thank you Andrew :-). I think there is something rather pleasing about the harshness of ink against the softness of graphite, I should do some more really!

Beautiful, love the subject ..

My sister doesn't like it around there at all... I think she says that because she has a stupid doggy, who when she gets to a style, just sits there and expects to be carried... tut!

Artist's Description

Drawing along of one of my favourite walks in the south of the Isle of Man on the Langness peninsula, Castletown and Brada in the background.

Started as just a graphite drawing on cartridge, but then added some ink for definition. First time really that I have drawn complicated cloud structures, which was kind of fun.

St Michael's Chapel is a stone-built, Norse-Celtic chapel, dedicated to St. Michael and dates from around the 12th century. It is now roofless and consists of just four walls and a bell turret. The graveyard, which has been washed away, was used until about 1870 for the burial of shipwrecked mariners.

About Paul Davenport

Paul Davenport

I started off in fine art, by going to Wakefield School of Art and then St Martins in London to do Sculpture, I have spent most of my time (after going to Camberwell School of Art for a Graphics degree) doing graphic design, working through various sectors including publishing, sales promotion, marketing, and design consultancies, before starting my own company in 1995. I have always to some extent kept up with the fine art - even when this just meant going out sketching with my dad... and its always played a big part in my design work. Most recently though I have being doing rather allot of drawing, re igniting a passion for my long lost love of fine art (or scribbling). From sketching my neighbours little girl, I found myself...
