Description

This is the fourth painting in the Artotem series, exploring emotional responses with colour and texture. it was created with oil paints onto wood panel.

These artotem oil paintings are pure abstract, exploring the concept of totems, using colour and texture in an attempt to produce a "basic" natural object. The various elements combining to imbue it with significance.

After choosing a basic colour scheme the process started with making a random mark, then resting to the mark. The most difficulty being devising ways to apply so much paint with any degree of control, which was fine, as it meant scraping everything off on several occasions as my reactions changed.

The whole series of paintings are done on 1 metre square board.
