Drawing - Charcoal And Compressed Charcoal On Paper
Description
Balanced is the ongoing exploration of the possibilities of capturing the mood of a moment by capturing the movement and application of the stroke when describing light and shade… My figure drawings are as much about playing with light and shade than the actual figures, which are left to form organically.
My figures are usually worked up from small sketches done from life, with an intermediary drawing to work out the shapes and shading.
The drawing was done with compressed charcoal (conte) on A2 Daler Rowney 200gsm Fine Grain HeavyWeight paper. Very much a test to see how my arms are working (more than usual) as Ive been having trouble with coordinating things recently.

Superb work Paul !!
Paul Davenport replied:
Thank you Michel :-) was aiming to follow the other 'Balance' drawing... which was much more pushing the charcoal around with my fingers... but it didn't develop that way at all! Generally I just 'wing it' and see what happens :-)
