I really like this one. SWEET! Congratulations your excellence in art is seen in your wonderful images, thank you for your participation in the group and your beautiful submissions. It is work like yours that helps make our group so amazing. Thank you for being an honored member of the group TATONG. L/F

Paul Davenport replied:

Truly honoured to be a member:-) I think he knew I wanted him to stand still... though wouldn't have been half as much fun if he had :-) - I keep meaning to redraw this one as its a rather small drawing compared to what Im used to doing!

It's quite amazing that in each of your drawings the viewer can sense the movement of the horse. I feel his urgency to leave scene. Beautifully done Paul. Congratulations :)

Paul Davenport replied:

Thank you Lucy.... he was annoyed because I ran out of mints!

Artist's Description

This is the same horse as in Equine II prancing the other way in the field.

I do find the powerful musculature of horses beautiful.

This drawing (like most I am doing at the moment) was initially done quite small in a sketchbook using graphite, then worked up later using compressed charcoal on a heavyweight cartridge paper.

About Paul Davenport

Paul Davenport

I started off in fine art, by going to Wakefield School of Art and then St Martins in London to do Sculpture, I have spent most of my time (after going to Camberwell School of Art for a Graphics degree) doing graphic design, working through various sectors including publishing, sales promotion, marketing, and design consultancies, before starting my own company in 1995. I have always to some extent kept up with the fine art - even when this just meant going out sketching with my dad... and its always played a big part in my design work. Most recently though I have being doing rather allot of drawing, re igniting a passion for my long lost love of fine art (or scribbling). From sketching my neighbours little girl, I found myself...
