Product Details

Our luxuriously soft blankets are available in two different sizes and feature incredible artwork on the top surface. The bottom surface is white. Our 100% polyester blankets are available in two different styles: plush fleece and sherpa fleece. Plush fleece blankets are soft and fluffy on both sides, whereas sherpa blankets are smooth like a soft sweater on the artwork side (i.e. shorter threads) which provides for a sharper image. Looking for a recommendation? Go with a 60" x 80" plush fleece blanket. It's soft and luxurious on both sides... the artwork looks incredible... and the size is just right for everyone.

Artist's Description

A2 Charcoal and Conte drawing of a man resting in a crouching pose, done on Daler Rowney Fine Grain Heavyweight 200gsm paper.

In most of the drawings that I do, but especially in the figure drawings, I never revise or erase any of the marks I make. The initial thought was to possibly imbue a spontaneous freshness and to see how this would actually effect my drawing style. I guess it worked as far as the marks I make are concerned, which are all quickly done. What was unexpected was that along with the fun I had a strong feeling of apprehension which was rather stressful.

Im still interested in capturing the energy of the stroke with the marks I make - but am also getting interested in how both the shading and light can bleed into the subjects, giving form.

This version was worked up from a quick life drawing sketch - the smudging done with fingers, kitchen towel and a cardboard stick.

About Paul Davenport

Paul Davenport

I started off in fine art, by going to Wakefield School of Art and then St Martins in London to do Sculpture, I have spent most of my time (after going to Camberwell School of Art for a Graphics degree) doing graphic design, working through various sectors including publishing, sales promotion, marketing, and design consultancies, before starting my own company in 1995. I have always to some extent kept up with the fine art - even when this just meant going out sketching with my dad... and its always played a big part in my design work. Most recently though I have being doing rather allot of drawing, re igniting a passion for my long lost love of fine art (or scribbling). From sketching my neighbours little girl, I found myself...
