Artist's Description
Photographed near my sisters house, in the Isle Of Man in the UK. Having just started out on a walk, I was rather perturbed to see a dark line on the horizon, which very quickly swept towards me to become what is in the picture.
I was about one hundred feet above sea level and was about level with the bottom of the cloud.
Extremely intimidating and very beautiful. As the front hit me I looked up to see a meandering pressure wave preceding the cloud, through which I could see clear blue sky, very odd. I had put the camera away by then as the rain hit me, and was attempting to follow the gull, so missed capturing it (damn)
Shot with a Nikon D7100 with 18-300 Nikkor lens.
About Paul Davenport
I started off in fine art, by going to Wakefield School of Art and then St Martins in London to do Sculpture, I have spent most of my time (after going to Camberwell School of Art for a Graphics degree) doing graphic design, working through various sectors including publishing, sales promotion, marketing, and design consultancies, before starting my own company in 1995. I have always to some extent kept up with the fine art - even when this just meant going out sketching with my dad... and its always played a big part in my design work. Most recently though I have being doing rather allot of drawing, re igniting a passion for my long lost love of fine art (or scribbling). From sketching my neighbours little girl, I found myself...

WoW Paul! AMAZING weather photography! Cool cloud photos! L/F/, ~Jeff at JSJ Photography
Paul Davenport replied:
Thank you Jeff :-) guess I should have videoed it really as the picture fails to capture the speed or shear size of it... and bits of it were glowing so didn't know if it was electrical... the bit of land on the horizon on the left is about five miles away!

This is a great shot, Paul. Such wonderful composition of this dramatic cloud shelf. Love it!
Paul Davenport replied:
Thank you Joni... wish I had managed to catch the shock wave in front of it, it was very strange... the front was moving at a ridiculous speed though, I had made a second... and I had put the camera away... that will teach me! :-)
