Description
Meerkat colony, I felt sorry for this little chap, stood on his own, looking rather desultory. Though he may have done something naughty.
Taken in a conservation park I have just found close by where I live - which was quite surprising (as I hadn't known it was there), and lots of fun experimenting with the camera.
Shot with a Nikon D7100 using a 18 - 300 Nikkor lens

I love meerkats (thanks to the Animal Planet tv show about them!) and I just learned a new word -- desultory -- thanks to you! :) Top marks all around. And the detail in this photo is spectacular -- I feel like I could reach out and touch this little guy! Really well done!

I like them too - I don't know how much they communicate, but it really looked like he was being punished for something... all the others were scampering about doing meerkaty things and he was just stood there - I think the matriarch can be quite ruthless! - I love the word desultory as its my normal default mental state :-). Actually photographed through the perspex wall of the enclosure, so was rather happy with how it came out :-)
