Artist's Description
These were all done in the last few days of January 2017, predominantly as exercises to try and loosen up the marks Im making whilst exploring the basic mechanics of making marks and how we interpret them.
Im currently feeling like I should be moving on, but find myself constantly fascinated by charcoal, so am going to stick with it for a while longer!
Done with charcoal onto 110gsm cartridge.
About Paul Davenport
I started off in fine art, by going to Wakefield School of Art and then St Martins in London to do Sculpture, I have spent most of my time (after going to Camberwell School of Art for a Graphics degree) doing graphic design, working through various sectors including publishing, sales promotion, marketing, and design consultancies, before starting my own company in 1995. I have always to some extent kept up with the fine art - even when this just meant going out sketching with my dad... and its always played a big part in my design work.
