Artist's Description
The original ‘Resting III’ drawing, scanned and overplayed onto some homemade stained paper.
Not sure at the present time wether this is the final drawing as whilst Im reasonably happy with the pose, marks and the figure shading, I feel somewhat dissatisfied with the background, which didn’t seem to solidify when I was doing the drawing!
Im still interested in capturing the energy of the stroke with the marks I make - but am also getting interested in how both the shading and light can bleed into the subjects, giving form.
The original drawing was worked up from a quick life drawing sketch - the smudging done with fingers, kitchen towel and a cardboard stick. About Paul Davenport
I started off in fine art, by going to Wakefield School of Art and then St Martins in London to do Sculpture, I have spent most of my time (after going to Camberwell School of Art for a Graphics degree) doing graphic design, working through various sectors including publishing, sales promotion, marketing, and design consultancies, before starting my own company in 1995. The texture makes this more interesting. As if she is also part of the background. Well done! L/f
Paul Davenport replied:
Thank you Brenda:-) yes, the colour versions I find fun to do... mainly because of the unexpected results one gets... I did the colour version last night just to see what would happen... the drawing has actually been lying around for weeks now as Im still not sure about it!... I still may redraw it :-)
